Question by Sam: Public Transportation in Santiago to outdoor sports?
I’m doing an exchange program in Santiago, Chile next spring semester (January-May). I won’t have a car, so was wondering if anyone has information on public transportation to local areas for outdoor sports? I currently sport climb (project 5.13b/8a), boulder (V11/8a), mountain bike, surf and I’m a pretty avid backcountry skier, though it looks like I’ll probably miss the ski season.

Any information, general or specific, would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Easy! I live in Chile (actually I live in Santiago) and it is very easy to go outdoor… you have to go to “Estacio central” and you have there all the buses that go everywhere. You just have to ask and they are gonna tell you which bus you have to take. Maybe I can help you by mail when youre here. I am studying english 😉
