Mixon entered an Alford plea (a plea of guilty to a criminal charge where the defendant does not actually admit to a crime but maintains an assertion of innocence) to a misdemeanor assault charge in October 2014 for punching Amelia Molitor in response to Molitor’s physical assault of Mixon (she first pushed and shoved Mixon backwards and slapped him across the face).
The incident happened on July 25, 2014 at a Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe in Norman, on Campus Corner. Campus Corner is known for its square mile of bars and after hours restaurants.
The Surveillance video of the incident showed, after the two had a verbal argument, Amelia Molitor pushing, then slapping Mixon, followed by Mixon punching Molitor. The video was not released until December 16, 2016.
Mixon broke bones in Molitor’s face which resulted in hospitalization and surgery.
Mixon received a one-year deferred sentence and was required to perform 100 hours of community service and undergo counseling. Molitor filed suit in federal court against Mixon on July 22, 2016. She accused Mixon of negligence, willful and wanton misconduct, and intentional infliction of emotional distress
