Question by Crystal: I’m sick of my parents calling me fat..?
I want to loose weight but theres nothing healthy in my house. Also, my friends tell me that im a good weight and that i’m not fat, im average. I agree with them but my parents are always saying “Why dont you join a sport?” or “Your eating too much.” I dunno what to do… Ive tried counting calories and just eating less but it dosent seem to work for me. And theres not much exersize I can do because my parents dont let me go outside for a walk or anything. We also dont have any excersize equipment. I always tell my mom to make healthy food but she never does. What can I do?

In my early teens, my parents did that, and it really bothered me. What did I do? I developed an eating disorder. I went from being an A student who breezed through school to constant brain fogged F student. Your brain cannot run without adequate fuel. But they made me so mad. I didn’t care. I wanted to get soooo skinny that I would scare them, and that would show them. They would be so jealous of my skinny body.
6 years later, i am now 20, and my mom just told me to “weight myself”. I have come a long way since i was 14 and starved myself. I have failed college partially due to poor nutrition and low self esteem. They want me to get my act together, don’t need to cut back on eating. But do eat healthy, and do squeeze in some exercise, no matter your weight, because it is healthy (at the very least, try to limit your processed sugar intake)
It is extremely hard, because at your age (i’m assuming you’re in your teens), your parents are the ones you are supposed to trust most and receive support from. What’s more – you see them every f**king day of your life. But hang in there. If they won’t be the supportive and nuturing parents they should be, i guess you would have grow up a lil bit early and do a lot of positive talking to yourself in your head every time they abuse (yes this is considered emotional abuse). Next time they call you fat, tell yourself, “no i’m not fat. They are just brain washed from what they see on tv and in magazines. Those models are not healthy and not eating right. In fact, in recent years, they have set minimum BMI numbers for models, and most of them do not meet those expectations. I am healthy ,perfectly okay, and happy the way i am. I just need to ignore them when they talk down to me as such, because I have more important things to do with my life, especially at this critical time of my life, such as school, my friends, and my dreams.”
