Question by : How to convince parents to adopt German Shepherd?
My parents aren’t worried about money or responsibility, they just are afraid GSD’s are a liability. We had a male GSD in the past, and he was NOT trained. I was only 5 so don’t bash me. He ran his teeth up a kid’s arm once but didn’t bite them. He ripped the seat of a guy’s pants off once, again not biting but just because he got pissed off. When our neighbor had GSD pups they seemed pretty convinced, but when they got adopted out they went back to normal. Their main concern is that someone will file a lawsuit or something. How can I convince them that with training that won’t happen?

GSD’s require an experienced handler.
Having one when you were 5 doesn’t qualify you to handle one and it seems as if your parents aren’t able to either.
What other dogs have you had since the GSD?
Where are you going to get the training to train the GSD?
A stable well bred GSD will cost you several hundred if not into the thousands of dollars, do you have that kind of money?
Recently my GSD female had to have an emergency spay – there were complications the total so far is $ 2,600. Can you/your parents afford vet bills like that. Remember the bigger the dog the more the vet bill will cost, since so much depends on weight.
