They remind me of Minneapolis' The Hang Ups along with the Ocean Blue. I love the chiming guitars.

What vocal effect does he use? Vocal doubling(multiplying)
    And what keyboard is that?

    Different drummer at 3:28?

That is one band that clearly doesn't need a mascot — but what the heck can it hurt?! Thanks to WXRT's Local Anesthetic for recommending this one — nice choice!!

sorry guys but as a diehard real estate fan i gotta say this is the peak of their powers so far. the melancholy, the complexity, the lyrics. all they laid so bare in atlas dives beneath a glittering surface on this album to produce something of deceptive intensity. those euphoric moments like the solo on had to hear or THE moment in municipality (you know the one) had their time and place. I would be disappointed if they just tried to replicate it here. this album is a new day, down a new street, under some other sky but with the same soul, perhaps wiser.

Spring road-trip while soaking up with these new tunes will make the adventure that much more enjoyable. This record is lit!!!

This is amazing. And I'm only on my second listen. 'Holding Pattern', to name just one, is just…I don't have words to adequately convey the sonic gorgeousness of it. Reading through the comments below, I'm struck by how many people seem to be dismissing the record?! Maybe it's 'the shock of the new' and all that, maybe you lot were expecting an exact replica of 'Days' or 'Atlas', I don't know. Each to their own but to these ears (and I have everything they've done, right back to the first album) it sounds stunning. To my mind they've managed to pull off the difficult balance of moving their sound forward while retaining enough of the elements that made them special in the first place. Hats off (if I had a hat on I would take it off)

I generally really like this album. It's a lot cleaner and more of a refreshing Real Estate sound. The jams are really great especially Two Arrows. The bass lines on the whole album are really smooth. I miss Matt but Julian added a lot to the new album. Martin's vocals are more confident and Bleeker's tone is so good. Might be the best Real Estate yet.

Generally I rate it below Atlas, but the new interesting moments appeared and I think that many of them are on par with their best stuff. First four songs are gorgeous, I especially like the ease of Serve The Song and After The Moon. And then…Two Arrows. Definitely my favourite. It seems quite boring and unimaginative from the beginning, but the breaking of the melody in the second part is one of the best moments on the album and shows the new interesting approach of the band. The second half kind of fails to catch my imagination. I have never been a great fan of Alex Bleeker written songs and Diamond Eyes seems quite alien to me, but other songs are decent, especially the ending. Same Sun and Saturday offer a wonderful close to the whole piece.

Not bad, might be a grower for me, but all i can say is upon first listen the stand out track for me was TIME! Perhaps now I need a little more TIME to appreciate the rest of the album!
